PCA Race Standards Guide - PCA Qualifying Events

At the Association's Annual General Meetings over the years, there has been discussion as to which Area events should be included in our Annual Championship Series and what on the water race management standards we would like to see at these races.  Races which we will recognize as qualifying for the Season  Championship are listed elsewhere on the PCA Website. Inclusion is based on the following expectations:

1. Regattas will include a separate Premier Class only start,

2. Premier Class races will have a windward start in an area unaffected by the close proximity of land or shoal water;

3. If wind direction changes after the start courses will be changed as necessary to ensure windward legs and to avoid races becoming a “parade"_

4. If wind diminishes, courses will be shortened so that, if at all possible, yachts finish within the advertised time limit.
