PCA 2009 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING HELD 12 NOVEMBER

The Annual General Meeting of the Premier Class Association was held Thursday, November 12 at 6:30 at Saraguay House of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron Drinks and snacks at 6:30 Food compliments of Halifax BMW., meeting beginning at  7:00 pm.

Routine reports covered The Association's finances,   Membership, the season past, More controversial reports intended to stimulate discussion, included::

Handicap ratings - do we stay with PHRFNE, or, now that NSYA has finally adopted a PHRF-like system do we adopt this latter system (which is essentially a translation of ASPN numbers into a PHRF like format, or thirdly, do we meet with NSYA and rationalise their numbers to meet our needs and adopt an adjustments regimen which more completely recognises current and anticipated changes in design and technology. This third option was decided upon. VP Grant Machum and VP Class Development Stephen Davies were named to meet with NSYA members to address this issue. The outcome of these deliberations will then be presented to our members  for consideration.

Next Year's schedule.

Award of Season Championship to Mark Holden's Beneteau 49 Festivuss. with 355 points. Other top scorers included:

            2. Ciao!                        348 pts (competed in 4 scoring events)

            3. Climax                      342 pts (competed in 4 scoring events)

            4. Juice                         297 pts (competed in 4 scoring events)

            5. Third Wave              293 pts (competed in 4 scoring events)

The meeting was adjourned at 8:50, and members enjoyed conversation and discussion on matters of import.

There was NO charge for attending this event this year. Several member yachts did pay their 2010 PCA membership fee and were rewarded with a free CD showing PCA Yachts racing in 2009.

The evening was open to all present and would-be members of the Premier Class Association Racing and to all other members of the keelboat racing community, their friends, family. AGM Business agenda - click here.

We support Derek Hatfield in his 2010 "Velux Five Oceans" Round the World Race. He had hoped to attend our AGM and tell us about plans for the campaign and fundraising.
